Puzzle of oral tradition in ancient India

Ever wondered why the oldest civilization on earth that gave the world the concept of zero, defined time in terms of billions of years, showed the world the window to astronomy and medicine (ayurveda) practiced the oral way of tranmitting knowledge from one generation to another.

When the knowledge to document on leaves, brass metal sheets and stones were known, why would someone look to memorizing huge texts. In fact we observe that great care and discipline was followed between the guru and the students in passing information this way in a systematic manner.

So what am I trying to point to ?

Hmmm...currently we are storing everything in paper or digital format.
Imagine a global catastrophe or a nuclear war that destroys every form of stored information.
Where will we be - Stone age ?
Whom can we look upto ?
Thats when the power of human memory comes to our rescue.

There is ample evidence to suggest that some great act of nature such as floods or meteroite hit happened or even worse a nuclear holocaust happened millions of years ago. It wiped out civilizations and only a few managed to escape and survive.

It seems like the ancient Hindu cvilization could predict such a catastrophe and encouraged the oral tradtion before the human race could go down.

Is it time for us to take a relook to the oral tradtion ?

Will it be possible for us to convert the huge amount of knowledge that into we have into oral form.
We need to look into our ancient past to find answers to these before its too late.

Decoding Mythology

The ancient and holy texts such as the Puranas, Ramayana and Mahabharata...are they trying to tell us something.....something which we currently dont have the capability of ?
It seems they are hiding a wealth of knowledge in their stories ..but we are like a child still trying to understand what they are really referring to.

Avatars of Gods and Theory of Evolution
Lord Vishnu is supposed to have incarnated in various forms

1. Fish
2. Turtle
3. Boar
4. Narasimha (Half Lion-Half Human)
5. Waman (Pygmy)
6. Parshuram (representing human in nomadic form)
7. Ram (perfect human and represents a settled way of life)
8.Krishna and Balarama (human at the pinacle of civilization)

If you watch the sequence from 1 to 8 above, does'nt it look like a reference to the Evolution of man as described by Charles Darwin ? ...that we came from unicellular beings that evolved into Humans after milions of years through various stages.
Even the ancient Greeks mention that we came from the sea.....
Perhaps the egg-laying mammal - The Playtpus the link between our reptilan ancestors and mammalian descedants hold the key to this answer too.

Guided Weapon Systems
In Mahabharata is mentiond a famous warrior - Barbareek, the son of Ghattokacha who was the son of the Great Bheem.
He had only 2 arrows in his quiver - the first one would locate and mark the target while the second one would follow and destroy the target. Looks like our ancients knew about Guided missile systems much before any other civilizations"

Weapons of mass destruction
In Ramayana and Mahabharata we hear reference to "Bhramaastra" a weapon which only few warriors could unleash...which when unleashed resulted in destruction of huge proportions.
The description of the after-effects of this astra finds curious similarity with the description of after effects of Atom-Bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Did the ancients have access to weapons of mass destruction of such massive scale ?

Ancient Medical Miracles

Ancient Medical Wonders
The Chinese have been practicing Acupunture for thousands of years....it still remains a mystery how they were able to master our nervous systems functions in so details and manipulate it with needles.

Among the exponents of ancient martial arts of South India - Kalaripaytu could be found few experts who mastered "Marmayoga". They could cure ailments or kill/disable any humans by merely using their fingers on certain sensitive parts of our body. This kind of knowledge even puzzle the scientists of today.

How could the ancients do this ..did they have access to a far superior technology than us ... ?
Some of the herbs and medicines used in acient India such as turmeric, ginger - are they a form of plants genetically modified by our ancient civilization for medicinal purpose ?

Ancient Technology/Civilizations

Introduction to my thoughts on Ancient Technology/Civilizations.

People are so used to believing that the current era that we are living in is the era of "cutting edge technology" and that such a benefit was not available to mankind before.

But is it true.....can we belive it to be true..when we look at monuments/technologies built by ancient civilizations such as Egyptians, Greeks, Chinese, Mayan, Indians etc..

Pyramid built thousands of years ago.....is still a puzzle for many scientists/archealogists - it looks like a tomb, it acts like an astronomical observatory, its perferct trianlge/tangent construction is a geometric wonder - what exactly is it ?

Decimal number system was known to Ancient Indians for thousands of years and infact it was the only civilization that utilised it. The concept/meaning of zero which is responsible for the digital technology today was defined ages ago in ancient India.

Mythological stories in ancient civilzations such as Egyptians, Greeks, Chinese, Mayan, Indians tell tales of Super humans and spectacular weapons and flying systems...are these merely myths or are they real.

Civilizations so powerful - where did they vanish - where they destroyed or did they leave our dying planet to other planets/galaxies.

Of the thousands of years of history of mankind..and its existence .....is it fair to belive that superior technology only happen to exist in the last 2000 years only ?
